NOTABLE DATES

RAWLE Frank had selected the land of his birth in which to have his last professional fight. On November 6, 2010, Frank defeated former junior middleweight champion `Deadly’ Denny Dalton on points. The fight was held at the Princess Hotel and Casino and was the last of 39 bouts. Frank jumped into the professional ranks in 1986 as a 17-year-old and reeled off 11 victories before collecting his first blemish. Later in a stellar career he twice challenged the now deceased Vernon Forrest for the vacant International Boxing Federation welterweight title.
The first clash between the two was staged in August 2000, and ended in a No-Contest, while Forrest won the next by a unanimous decision the following year.
After taking up permanent residence in the USA, Frank returned to Guyana in 1992 for two exciting battles with Guyana’s `Raging Bull’ Michael Benjamin. He lost both fights on points.
Frank claimed the vacant USBA welterweight title in October 1997 with a split decision victory over Purcell Miller and moved on to claim the USBA and IBF Latino super welterweight titles. His pro career has produced 29 victories (14 KOs), five defeats and three draws.
