AN interdicted policeman was on Thursday arrested after being caught with an unlicensed firearm and matching rounds, the Guyana Police Force has confirmed. In a statement the GPF said ranks of the Bartica Police Station whilst investigating reports of indecent assault and discharging of a loaded firearm which occurred at Puruni Landing, Upper Mazaruni River on October 27, 2015, carried out a search on house at Puruni Landing, about 13:30 hrs on Thursday and found an unlicensed .38 revolver along with three live. 38 rounds and three .38 spent shells.
The suspect who is an interdicted police rank was detained and is assisting the police with the investigation. A ballistic test of the firearm is being carried out.
