Transport and Harbours, Republic Bank and Ministry of Public Security win on opening night

THE Banks Beer Inter-Corporation Futsal tournament kicked off on Thursday evening at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall with five entertaining matches.In the opening game played after a brief ceremony, Transport and Harbours defeated the Ministry of Agriculture 4-3.
Lloyd Prince (5th minute), Ulric Bourne (8th), Rondel Henry (11th) and Joel Singh (13th) netted for the winners while Romain Lindo scored a hat-trick for the losers.
Akeem Morris scored a hat-trick to lead Republic Bank to a 5-3 win over National Insurance Scheme (NIS) while the Ministry of Public Security walked away 4-3 winners Guyana National Industrial Company (GNIC).
In the penultimate match of the night, Bank of Guyana and Ministry of Tourism played to a 2-2 draw. The Guyana Power and Light (GPL) versus Ministry of Forestry game also ended in a 2-2 draw.
The 32-team tournament will continue on Monday when ten more matches will be played.
