Public Health Ministry takes eye-screening outreach to Leguan – over 400 benefit

THE Ministry of Public Health has been conducting a series of ophthalmology outreaches across the country, and within the past week 436 individuals have benefited from screening and eye care.
The most recent visit was made to the Essequibo Island of Leguan, where 51 residents, including children and the elderly, benefited from free eye testing and screening.These activities were part of the ministry’s World Sight Day celebration, which was observed on October 9, 2015, under the theme: ‘Eye Care for All.’

The eye-screening campaign began at Qualfon Guyana and the Palms on the day of observance.
It later targeted the Lichfield Health Centre- Region 5, on October 9; Wales Community Centre (WBD) – Region 3, on October 12; St. Cuthbert’s Mission – Region 4, on October 13; One Mile Health Centre, Wismar, Linden – Region 10, on October 14; and Leguan Cottage Hospital-Region 3, on October 15.
Residents of these areas took full advantage of the services offered and expressed great appreciation to the ministry for the undertaking.
