THE Mayor and City Council (M&CC) at its statutory meeting on Monday decided to revisit plans to install parking meters and to build bus sheds in Georgetown.Councillor Junior Garrett in presenting his arguments noted that the ideas should be further discussed and implemented. He pointed out that bus sheds would beautify the city and provide shelter and support to the elderly, children and physically challenged.
Garrett noted also that parking meters would boost the revenue base of the council, while regulating parking in the city. Parking meters can be used as a tool to regulate parking.
Meanwhile, Town Clerk Royston King noted that the council needs to improve its revenue base to meet the growing expectations of the citizenry, and that both ideas are implementable and feasible.
