Juvenile sentenced to 200 hrs community service, …fined $5,000 for ganja possession

CITY Magistrate Dylon Bess yesterday sentenced a 17-year-old unrepresented juvenile to 200 hours of community service, and fined him $5000 for being in possession of one gramme of cannabis-sativa (marijuana) on October 11 at East Ruimveldt, Georgetown.The juvenile pleaded guilty to the charge laid against him, and the prosecutor detailed that, on the day in question, the police were on motorcycle patrol when they saw him acting suspiciously. The ranks searched him and found the narcotic on his person. He was informed of the offence and charged.

The juvenile was expected to report to the East Ruimveldt Police Station yesterday at 1 o’clock to begin serving his sentence.
