DRIVERS are bracing themselves for an action-packed day of drag-racing action and one particular team will look to turn heads come Sunday, November 4.
East Coast Racing Team, comprising Rajesh Pandey, Pierre Singh and Romeo Singh, will field a 4-car team to the second edition of the Quick Shift event, organised by the Guyana Motor Racing and Sports Club.
The team comprises Toyota Mark 2, Toyota Supra, Toyota Ep 91 Starlet and a Mazda RX-8, all tuned by Alvin.
Speaking to Chronicle Sport yesterday, Pandey, the team’s representative said, “Preparations are coming along good, the guys are working on the cars and preparations are coming along good. The only thing that bothering us is tyres and we are hopeful to get it sorted out by Sunday.”
He added that the competition will be stiff but he expects his team to put up a good fight.
Free runs for the event commence at 09:00hrs with Qualifying, where cars will be placed into groups based on how fast they can complete the quarter mile which begins at 10:00hrs.
The knock-out phase begins an hour later.
GMR&SC has organised a meeting today September 2015 at their building, Albert Street, Thomas Lands, for all drag-racing competitors and those interested.
The meeting will commence at 17:00hrs and will focus on issues that drag racers may have and also on the implementation of systems to ensure the smoother flow of drag-racing events.
Admission is $1 000 for adults, $500 for children under 12 years and vehicles are free
