2015 Scotiabank Kiddy cricket competition to bowl off today

THE 2015 Scotiabank Kiddy Cricket competition will commence today with teams in the Berbice River area competing for top honors.
In the morning session, Huru Huru and Aroiama primary schools will play each other, while in the afternoon session Calcuni Primary and St Lust Primary will meet.
On Thursday, Kimbia Primary will come up against Ebini Primary, and Sand Hill Primary will compete with De Veldt Primary.
The winning teams will progress to the qualifying stages in order to determine a winner for the Scotiabank Kiddy Cricket Berbice River District trophy on October 2, 2015.
Over 214 primary schools across the country will have an opportunity to participate in the 2015 Scotiabank Kiddy Cricket competition, with zones such as North Georgetown, East Bank Essequibo and West Berbice set to commence their matches on October 6, 2015.
The Scotiabank Kiddy Cricket programme emphasises a fun-learning approach to cricket, while simultaneously emphasising group involvement and other team-work ethics.
However, this year’s competition incorporates aspects of the game that are more aligned to conventional rules, in an effort to capture and identify talented players and to promote a progressive pathway for emerging players.
In addition, at the end of the tournament three talented players will be identified for an opportunity to be the recipient of a Scotiabank award valued at US$500.
Of the three identified players, the student-player with the highest academic average for 2015 will receive the award.
