THE Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) has successfully delivered 3,075 babies for the period January 1- July 31, 2015.In total, the major healthcare institution delivered 3,175 babies but 50 of those babies were stillbirths. Out of the total deliveries, 657 babies were born to teenaged mothers ranging from under 14 to 19 years old.
During the same period last year, the hospital successfully delivered 3,151 babies, and out of its 3,207 deliveries 56 were stillbirths. Of the total deliveries last year, 673 babies were born to teenaged mothers. These figures illustrate that the hospital has recorded a decrease in deliveries during this period compared to last year, as well as a decrease in babies being born to teenaged mothers.
Deliveries in January 2015 surpassed the other months with a total of 565 babies being delivered, while for the same period last year, April had the highest number of deliveries with a total of 501 babies being born at the hospital.
The GPHC’s maternity ward admitted a total of 5,092 patients during this period.
