FIRST Vice President and Prime Minister Moses Nagamootoo will today address stakeholders at the Ministry of Agriculture organised National Cane Farmers Conference.The conference, which is aimed at addressing a number of important issues related to the sugar industry, will be held at the Arthur Chung International Conference Centre, and is slated to commence at 09:00 hrs.
There will be presentations on the Guyana Sugar Industry in the Global context, and the Cane Farming and National Cane Farming Committee Act will be examined. Also, discussions will take place on market prices of sugar and cane farming, and the overall performance of the sugar industry will be examined during the deliberations.
Government has continued to make known its commitment to reviving Guyana’s sugar industry, as it aims to ensure job security for the thousands of persons employed in the sector.
