Mother of Nephi Noel, Joy Noel, yesterday said she felt good that at least one of the two men who took her son’s life is in police custody and it is only a matter of time before the other suspect is caught.

She said that she has been praying for a miracle and is pleased that the case is going somewhere since she is finding it very difficult to cope with the tragic loss of her son.

Joy Noel said further, “I used to tell Nephi that when I get old he will take care of me and I did not know that I would be the one to bury him instead. They could have shot him in the foot or something.”

Police had issued wanted bulletins for Forde and Kanand Ojha in connection with the shooting death of transgender sex worker Luther.

Twenty-year-old Noel of Lot ZZ D’urban Street, Wortmanville was gunned down by one of two men, on July 22, 2015 at about 02:35 hrs, while plying his trade in the downtown area of Carmichael Street in Georgetown. He was shot once to the chest when confronted by the duo during an argument over a paid transaction.

Reports are that a male client had earlier visited the transgender sex worker for a paid sexual encounter, but was apparently not satisfied with the services he had received, and had returned to Luther.

Not being pleased with the response, the client returned with another man, who reportedly shot Noel dead before fleeing the scene in a sports utility vehicle.

Luther was conveyed to the GPHC where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
