Miner gets 48 months for unlawful wounding

A MINER was yesterday sentenced to 48 months imprisonment for unlawful wounding by Magistrate Judy Latchman at the Georgetown Magistrates Court.

Levi Williams of Durban Street, Georgetown, was accused of unlawfully and maliciously wounding Jermaine Sampson on Sunday, June 17,2015 at Norton Street, also in the city.
Williams, who had initially pleaded not guilty to the charge, eventually changed his plea to guilty.
According to the prosecution, Sampson was stabbed twice, once in one of his eyes and the other in another section of his body.
A year ago, Williams was sentenced to 12 months imprisonment by former Magistrate Geeta Chandan-Edmond, after he admitted to stabbing another person with whom he had got into an argument . During the recent incident, he dealt Sampson several stabs about the face and neck with a knife.
