Woman charged with unlawfully possessing GPF property

STEPHANIE Persaud on Friday appeared before Magistrate Leron Daley at the Providence Magistrates Court,charged with being in unlawful possession of a pair of police handcuffs and a police badge and with break and enter and larceny. Particulars of the first charge alleged that Persaud at Friendship, East Bank Demerara, had in her possession a pair of police handcuffs and one police badge, suspected to be stolen or unlawfully obtained. The 20-year-old Persaud denied the charge.
It was further alleged that the young woman between September 2014 and Friday,May 29,2015 at Friendship Squatting Area,East Bank Demerara,broke and entered the dwelling house of Linda Rondures and stole one $8,000 transformer, a television set valued $25,000, a $350,000 dining table along with a toy piano and other items valued at $423,000. Persaud denied that charge also.
Police Prosecutor, Inspector Michael Grant did not relate the facts to the court,neither did he object to bail being granted. He however stated that all the items were found in Persaud’s possession.
Persaud was ordered to return to court on Thursday, July 30,2015.
