THE City Constabulary is currently celebrating its 178th anniversary.In recognition of this milestone, an Inter-faith Service was held yesterday at City Hall compound, Regent and Avenue of the Republic, under the theme: “Together We stand for Perfection”.

Among the distinguished persons joining the constabulary in celebration were Mayor of Georgetown Hamilton Green, Minister of Communities Ronald Bulkan, councillors and religious leaders representing the Christian, Muslim, Bahai and Hindu denominations.
Delivering sermonettes were religious leaders: Pastor Wendel Jeffrey, Pandit Deodat Tillack, Brother Neil Bacchus and Ms. Halo Bassein.
Scripture readings were done by Lance Corporal 1556 Leandrew and Woman Corporal 1718 Glasgow. The ‘Role of the City Council’ was narrated by CPL. 1740 Baveghems.

Apart from congregational singing, there were also poems, solos, as well as choice musical renditions by the Police Force Band.
The City Constabulary was established in 1837 and has as its motto: “Serving the Citizen and Advancing the Nation”.
