Man ordered to pay $20,000 compensation to female police officer

CITY Magistrate Alex Moore Thursday yesterday issued a stern warning to a 23-year-old man, who allegedly used abusive language to a female police constable.Particulars of the charge against Tiffone Beckley alleged that he used indecent language to Woman Constable 1851 Tiffinee Moore on Tuesday, July7, 2015 at the Stabroek Market Bazaar. Beckley pleaded not guilty to the charge.
However, the defendant later changed his plea and accepted the charge after the magistrate warned him that the penalty carries a six-month sentence. Magistrate Moore told the defendant that his actions were immature for someone his age.
