Waterloo St man charged over cocaine trafficking on his birthday – court hears

EDWARD Isaacs was yesterday remanded to prison by Magistrate Ann McLennan at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court on drug trafficking charges.The 34-year-old pleaded not guilty to the charge that stated on Tuesday at Waterloo Street, in Georgetown, he had in his possession two grams of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.

The defendant told the court that he resides at Waterloo Street and would normally work in the interior.
However on the day in question, he was celebrating his birthday and went out on the road to buy food and talk to his friend ‘Rastaman’. Moments after he returned home, police searched him as well as ‘Rastaman’.
He further stated that the cocaine was not found on him but on the ground and the police alleged it belonged to him.

Police Corporal Deniro Jones did not state the prosecution’s facts nor raise objection to bail. Bail was, however, refused and the matter stands adjourned until July 16 before Magistrate Fabayo Azore.
