Sunthgolam is expected to stand trial during the next sitting of the Berbice Assizes.
The police alleged that Sunthgolam had borrowed a sum of money, and had gone to the home of the deceased to make a partial payment and to collect his Guyana passport, which contained a U.S. visa. However, there was a disagreement and Mc Lean was fatally wounded.
The bloated, decomposing remains of the 62-year-old entrepreneur, was discovered in his house at Lot 6 Sheet Anchor Village, Canje, just before 08:00 hrs on Wednesday, December 3, 2014.
The discovery was made by one of his sons, Fredrick, who had gone in search of him after failing to make contact with him via his mobile phone.
A subsequent post-mortem conducted by Dr. Vivikanand Brijmohan had revealed that death was due to shock and haemorrhage and an incised wound to the chest.
