A 22-year-old man on the Essequibo Coast drank a quantity of gramoxone in an attempt to commit suicide on Saturday last, allegedly because he was beset with personal problems.He was rushed to the Suddie hospital where he has since been admitted a patient, and is seriously battling for his life. The grass killer poison has reportedly registered serious damage to the young man’s lips and mouth.
Several residents of Region Two are calling for the adoption of urgent measures to stop the selling of pesticides freely on the market, especially to young people; and for implementation of programmes to educate young people against the scourge of suicide.
