A BRAZILIAN national, Thursday, found himself in hot water when he appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates Court before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry, charged with attempted murder.Ivor Nascimento DaCosta was not required to plead to the charge, which alleged that on May 27 at Black Water Backdam, Cuyuni River, he wounded Rondel Wellington with intent to commit murder.
Police Prosecutor Bharat Mangru while not relating facts to the court, objected to bail on the ground that the defendant poses a flight risk, since he has no ties to Guyana. Consequently, bail was refused.
The man was remanded to prison and his matter was transferred to the Kamarang Magistrates’ Court for June 15.
