NINETEEN-YEAR-OLD Claude Ashby of Lot 61 Joseph Pollydore Street, Georgetown appeared yesterday before Georgetown Magistrate Judy Latchman, charged with unlawfully assaulting his child mother, Tashana Caesar, so as to cause her actual bodily harm.

Ashby denied committing the offence, which allegedly occurred on March 29 in Joseph Pollydore Street, Georgetown.

The magistrate was in process of remanding Ashby after the prosecutor objected to bail on grounds of the seriousness and prevalence of the offence, and because the couple has a history of abuse; but Caesar requested the magistrate to quash the charge against the father of her child, since she is unemployed and he is their sole provider.

The magistrate acceded to her request.
