A QUANTITY of bats, balls, pads and stumps among other cricket requisites, were donated to the Gandhi Youth Cricket Club (GYCC), Transport Sports Club (TSC), Maltenoes Sports Club (MSC), Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) and the Everest Cricket Club (ECC) by the non-governmental organisation Food for the Poor (FFP) recently, to assist the clubs in preparing for the various local competitions.Kellon Carmichael, captain of MSC thanked FFP for the kind donation and said that it would help immensely in preparing the Under-15 team, as the members are not fortunate to have their own equipment.

Public Relations Manager of FFP, Wayne Hamilton, said that although Guyana were the comprehensive winners of the West Indies Cricket Board/Professional Cricket League Regional four-day competition, the standard of cricket in Guyana and the West Indies is relatively poor.
He urged the recipients to take good care of the gear and further stated that FFP was committed to helping the clubs in Guyana to improve the game significantly as far as possible.
