A TEENAGER accused of stealing a bicycle was yesterday placed on $20,000 bail when he appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates Court. The allegation against Ceon Delph is that on Friday March 13, 2015, he stole one BMX bicycle valued $21,000, property of Anthony Junior.
The unrepresented 18-year-old denied the larceny charge when it was read to him by Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry.
Police Prosecutor Michael Grant objected to bail on the ground that the defendant has no fixed place of abode. Grant added that the teen told the court that he lives at Lot 14 Second Street, Cummings Lodge, which turned out to be false.
When the magistrate asked about the conflicting addresses, the teen explained that he recently moved with his family to Lodge. The magistrate granted bail and transferred the matter to City Magistrate Annette Singh for 27 March.
