K&VC Hotel murder trial..

Ruling today on alleged caution statement by murder accused
JUSTICE Franklyn Holder, presiding in the South Road Hotel murder case, will this afternoon deliver his ruling in a voir dire as to whether or not an alleged caution statement by the accused, Vinod Balgobin, is admissible in evidence.

The prosecution, contending that Balgobin is the person who reportedly murdered his wife MaryAnn Sunita Nauth in a hotel room between May 11th & 12th 2013, was about to tender into evidence an alleged caution statement by Balgobin last week when veteran defence counsel Mr. Compton Richardson objected to the move on the ground that the statement was not obtained in accordance with the Judges’ Rules. This resulted in Justice Holder holding a voir dire (a trial within a trial) to determine whether the statement is admissible in evidence.

After the voir dire was concluded yesterday, Justice Holder reserved his ruling for this afternoon.
