TERRENCE Alli, born Terrence Halley, chose January 14, 1992 to win his 48th professional fight. Alli forced Venezuelan Alfredo Rojas to retire at the start of the 5th round of a bout scheduled for 10 rounds. The fight was held in Atlantic City, New Jersey.Alli was fresh off a split-decision win over previously undefeated Charles Murray when he met Rojas who was known as `Scarface’ in boxing circles. The lightning quick boxer from Victory Valley had one more encounter before promoter Odinga Lumumba signed him to fight Steve Larrimore of the Bahamas.

The fight, promoted by Lumumba’s McNeal Enterprise, was held at the world-famous Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) ground on June 14, 1992 and drew one of the largest crowds ever to witness a boxing event in Guyana.
Alli chose the occasion to please his adoring local fans with a dazzling display that produced a fifth-round knockout of Larrimore, a former Commonwealth junior welterweight champion. It was the first time that the Guyanese had fought at home since losing to Walter Smith on March 1, 1980.
