THE Ministry of Health on Saturday evening held a reception at the Herdmanston Lodge in honour of visiting China’s Minister of Health, Madam Lin Bin.
Among those in attendance besides the Guest of Honour were the Chinese Ambassador to Guyana, Mr. Zhang Limin; members of the 11th Chinese Medical Brigade; Guyana’s Minister of Health, Dr. Bheri Ramsaran; Director of Medical and Professional Services at the Georgetown Public Hospital, Mr. Sheik Amir; Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Shamdeo Persaud; acting Foreign Minister, Mr. Robeson Benn; and Prime Minister, and Acting President, Mr. Samuel Hinds.

Madam Lin Bin praised the relationship with China and Guyana, noting that the Chinese Government aims to work in partnership with Guyana to support other areas of development such as infrastructure, education, agriculture and health.
Madam Lin Bin also recalled her earlier visit to the Eye Clinic where patients underwent surgery for the removal of cataracts recently and was pleased with the recovery rate.
In closing remarks, Dr. Ramsaran expressed gratitude to the Chinese delegations for services rendered to Guyana over the past 20 years.
Meanwhile, discussions are underway on the establishment of a Chinese medical faculty at the University of Guyana through a cooperation programme to train and teach Guyanese medical students.
The Chinese medical brigade thanked Guyana for the hospitality they were shown throughout their stay, and deemed Guyana a welcoming place.
The Guest of Honour then had the opportunity of socialising with Guyanese guests, including special invitees and government ministers.
