SUDESH Lakeram yesterday appeared in court charged with the murder of his former reputed wife, 23-year-old Rajkumarie Persaud whom he stabbed multiple times causing her to die from haemorrhage due to incised wounds.
Lakeram appeared in the Leonora Magistrates Court before Magistrate Ann McLennan and was represented by Attorney-at Law Hukumchand, who requested of the court that his client be allowed a psychological evaluation which was granted by the court. He will return to court on the 15th of October.
Lakeram, a dental technician, was handed over to the police by his employer after he showed up at the businessman’s place where he confessed to killing his ex-reputed wife. The details of what led to the man committing the act is still unclear and relatives on both sides were surprised after the incident occurred.
The day before the incident, Lakeram showed up at the home of the woman and begged for them to resume the relationship, which was severed by the woman. The two were initially together for a period of eight months.
