THE Ministry of Health has announced that the Honourable Dr. Li Bin, Minister of National Health & Family Planning Commission of the People’s Republic of China, will be visiting Guyana from 27 – 29 September, 2014.
This will be Minister Li Bin’s first visit to our country.
During her visit, Madam Li Bin and her delegation of four Chinese Government Officials will be meeting with Acting President Sam Hinds, visiting the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation and the Linden Hospital Complex, and meeting with 14 members of the 11 Chinese Medical Brigade (CMB). She will visit patients who benefited from activities of the 11th CMB. These include patients fully recovered from complex ophthalmic and laparoscopic surgical operations at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation and the Linden Hospital Complex.
Minister Li Bin is expected to symbolically remove the dressings from several patients successfully recovering from recent eye surgery from the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation and the Linden Hospital Complex.
Ms. Li Bin is also slated to inaugurate the Centre for Laparoscopic Surgery at the Linden Hospital Complex, to which the Chinese Medical Brigade has donated costly Laparoscopic instruments and equipment.
Minister Li Bin and Guyana’s Health Minister Dr. Bheri Ramsaran will hold talks on strengthening the cooperation between the Ministry of Health and National Health & Family Planning Commission of the People’s Republic of China.
They will, at the end of the talks, be expected to sign a Memorandum of Understanding which will formalise the outcome of their discussion.
Madam Li Bin has a PhD in Economics and was Governor of Anhui Province in February of 2012. In March 2013 she became the Minister and Party Secretary of the National Health & Family Planning Commission of China.
