Goolsarran has a political agenda and an axe to grind

I AM amazed by the extensive coverage the anti-government media has been giving to Anand Goolsarran.Any logical, right thinking individual with an iota of intelligences can deduce that Goolsarran has a political agenda and an axe to grind with the PPP administration. I am sure many other citizens have biases and political ambitions as well and given the democratic nature of the current administration, I have no doubt that all and sundry have the opportunity to pursue such. My concern and disgust is directed at the media houses that allow this clearly senile and irrelevant fossil to continue to mis-inform the public about issues such as the IFMAS, the revision of wages and salaries for public service employees and the use of the Contingencies Fund.

Is there no code of ethics that is used to ensure fairness, fact checking and credibility of sources before it is published and disseminated to the public?

I recall when Kaieteur News was running its “Heist of Guyana’s Telecoms and Media Sector” some time ago, Kaieteur News accused Bharrat Jagdeo of trying to manipulate the citizens of Guyana by controlling all information via the distribution of radio licenses, etc., to PPP supporters.

In the same vein, is Kaieteur News’ editorial board guilty of the very act it claims to condemn? Is it not being hypocritical by using a ranting lunatic like Goolsarran who has no credibility and clearly does not understand Guyana’s Laws, to be featured in its publication?

Anand Goolsarran’s ambition is to take political office before be dies. It appears to be on his bucket list. Kaieteur News and Stabroek News are facilitating Goolsarran’s need for attention and relevance at the expense of their own credibility.

Anand Goolsarran is a known associate of the most shady and dubious public characters such as the leader of AFC, Kemraj Ramjattan, and Nigel Huges, two known political criminals. In addition Goolsarran is known for his past support of unethical practices when he was Deputy Auditor General and Auditor General under the PNC regime. He has not accomplished anything of significance in his professional life. He published a book by a vanity press, which means he paid all or most of the costs to publish the book rather than have the academic community critique his work and have an established publishing house pay for its publication, like most credible books and authors. Anand Goolsarran has not accomplished anything in his professional career that makes him an authority on financing, government, legal or otherwise. Hence my concern that the media is intentionally facilitating the dissemination of mis-information by providing the platform for Goolsarran.

I hope that the media will act responsibly and recognise that it has a duty to provide accurate, necessary information to the public via credible and authoritative sources. Anand Goolsarran is the antithesis of credibility and authority who only seeks to use his years in the Auditor General’s office for self-promotion and self-gain.
