FAZIL Ali of Lot 61 Barr Street, Albouystown, Georgetown, was yesterday refused bail by Magistrate Judy Latchman bail on a drug trafficking charge.
The 19-year-old unemployed man pleaded not guilty to the charge that said on May 15 at Albouystown, Georgetown, he had in his possession 75 grammes of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking.
Police Inspector Joel Ricknauth, prosecuting, said that acting on information the police went to the home of the defendant to conduct a search. With his permission, a search was conducted in his presence and a transparent plastic bag was found under his mattress.
The prosecutor said the defendant told the ranks that he bought the prohibited substance to make a hustle. One witness testified in the trial which began yesterday.
The case was put off until tomorrow for continuation of the trial.
