Defendant, virtual complainant bonded pending wounding trial

A SEVENTEEN-YEAR-OLD labourer, charged with wounding his friend, was placed on $30,000 bail by Magistrate Faith McGusty yesterday. Delroy White pleaded not guilty to the offence, particulars of which said that on Saturday, May 17, at East Ruimveldt, Georgetown, he unlawfully and maliciously wounded Jermaine La Black.
Police Corporal, Seon Blackman, prosecuting, had opposed the grant of pre-trial freedom on the grounds that the men involved are neighbours but the virtual complainant confirmed that they do not live immediately next to each other.
They were both bonded to keep the peace and the case was put off to June 16.
Attorney-at-law, Mr. Adrian Thompson successfully requested bail in a reasonable sum, telling the court that the parties are friends and do not wish to proceed with the matter.
But, when asked by Magistrate Mc Gusty, the virtual complainant said he wanted to go ahead with the case against La Black.
