Police investigating daring $1M robbery of gas station owner in N/A

POLICE investigations into a million-dollar robbery committed last Wednesday evening on the owners of the R. Arnold and Daughters Gas Station of Canefield Village, East Canje Berbice are continuing. The daring act was committed as Ramond Arnold and his recently married daughter, Diana, were returning to their St John Street Home in New Amsterdam after Raymond had earlier concluded business at his gas station, and his daughter Diana, a banker, had made the usual trip to the location in an effort to take her father home.

At about 19:20 hrs, as she drove up to their home, Raymond exited motor vehicle PPP 9798 to open their gate when Diana observed from her rear view mirror that three men who had apparently trailed them from the East Canje location were approaching.

She was startled when one of the men stretched his hand through the half-open window and pointed a gun at her before grabbing the steering wheel whilst opening the vehicle door.

She struggled with her attacker, determined to drive away; but the thief held onto the steering wheel until he overpowered her. Then he took control of the vehicle while she shifted to the passenger seat. Meanwhile, another bandit had entered the back seat where a bag containing $1M was located.

The bandit first headed the car in a westerly direction, before swinging it in a northerly direction, ignoring the kidnapped twenty-three-year-old as she opened the door and jumped out of the vehicle, sustaining injuries to her back, knees and hands.

The car was subsequently recovered less than a mile away.
Diana Arnold was serving as a juror in the High Court in Berbice. She has since been excused from the trial.
