KINGSTON, Jamaica – Jamaica’s opener John Campbell says he was not surprised at his bowling heroics which helped the team secure a narrow 59-run win over the Combined Campuses and Colleges (CCC) at Three Ws Oval in Barbados on Monday.Bowling his part-time off-spin in the WICB Four-day Championship showdown, Campbell claimed four for 17 off eight overs in the second innings to help bowl out CCC for 177.
This was after the home team had resumed on 155 for five, and needing another 82 runs to secure victory, which also booked Jamaica a spot in the semi-finals.

“No, I was not surprised as the ball felt good coming from my fingers during warm-up,” said Campbell. “I was (therefore) very confident that I would have got the job done.”
The 20-year-old, who did not bowl in the first innings, started the final day completing his second over. He had sent down 1.2 overs late on the third day.
He then went on to explain that on completing the over, captain Tamar Lambert asked him to bowl another, which produced the first wicket to fall.
It was the second four-wicket haul for Campbell since making his debut earlier this season.
His first was in Jamaica’s second match away to the Leewards where in almost similar fashion he claimed four for 15 off 8.5 overs in the second innings to help the team win by three wickets.
Jamaica are down to play Barbados in the semifinals at Kensingston Oval, starting tomorrow. The other semi-final will see Trinidad and Tobago host the Windward Islands at Queen’s Park Oval.
The final will be played April 25-28 at a venue to be announced.
