THE JURY in the trial of Carl Bennett, accused of the murder of ‘peacemaker’ Marvin Boston, found the accused not guilty at the Demerara Assizes on Thursday.Facing a retrial, Bennett won the verdict of the jury on this occasion, and was discharged by the presiding judge, Justice William Ramlal.
The prosecution, led by Attorney-at-law Miss M. Thompson from the Chambers of the DPP, highlighted the fact that Boston, realising that his friend was being attacked, had entered the arena as a peacemaker, and was fatally wounded.
The accused was arrested and charged with murder following police investigations, but was successfully defended by Attorney-at-law Mr. Huckumchand.
