… persons who assisted them said ‘they reeked of alcohol’
TEN persons were injured and one, Wazim Khan, was killed yesterday after their vehicle, a Ford 150, GRR 4883, toppled three times at Houston, on the East Bank Highway.
Khan died at Balwant Singh Hospital.

The driver, Brandon Rahaman, at the accident site, told the Guyana Chronicle that the group was headed to Inspire’s Phagwah activity at the Guyana National Stadium, after leaving friends in Station Street, Kitty.
He said he and two others were in the passenger seat inside the vehicle, while others were seated in the open tray.
The three of them were the worst injured of the group and were rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital.

Public spirited citizens who assisted in moving those injured into vehicles for transportation reported to the media that the individuals reeked of alcohol.
On site, two coolers and several bottles of ‘Stag’ beer were crushed and littered the roadways.
Rahaman, speaking to this newspaper, said, “Someone say mash when we come round the turn, I can’t say what happen after.”
However, at the hospital, he said someone at the back threw powder and before the window could be rolled up, his vision was blurred, causing him to lose control of the vehicle.
