Roy Reis goes on trial for 2007 rape

A 12-member jury was empanelled yesterday at the Demerara Assizes to try Roy Reis of Vigilance, East Coast Demerara, for allegedly raping a woman on February 5, 2007.

Reis, represented by Attorney-at-Law Mr. Basil Williams, has pleaded not guilty to the charge of having carnal knowledge of the woman without her consent.
State Counsel Mrs. Judith Mursalin is prosecuting.
The trial will resume on Tuesday next before Justice Franklyn Holder and a mixed jury.
