Conductor of ID parade says No. 1 accused was not identified

INSPECTOR Denise Charles who conducted an identification parade to pick out the killer of Lakhram Bishundial at Mahaica in 2010, yesterday told the jury that the number one accused Shawn Thom was not identified.The accused Shawn Thom and Orin David, called ‘Plait hair’ are facing indictments of felony murder, accusing them with the murder of Lakhram Bishundial, called ‘Mohan’, on the 21st of August, 2010, and robbery under arms the same day.
Mrs. Judith Mursalin of the DPP Chambers is prosecuting.
Attorney-at-law Mr. Trenton Lake is defending the number one accused Shawn Thom while Mr. George Thomas is representing Orin David.
On the same day that persons were rushing the injured Lakhram Bishundial to hospital after he had been shot and the money bag was taken away, the party saw at Victoria Gas Station what appeared to be money flying around and a man who had the money bag.
The number one accused was also arrested that day.
Inspector Denise Charles who at that time was attached to the Sparendaam Police Station stated that she assisted in the police investigations.
According to her she made arrangements for the holding of an Identification Parade at Turkeyen Police Station. Nine persons were on that parade, including the suspect.
She told Defence Counsel Lake that as far as she was aware, the witnesses at the ID parade did not identify the number one accused.
Their task was to pick out the person who was concerned with the shooting of Lakhram Bishundial on the 21st of August, 2010. The hearing is continuing.
