Port Mourant wife killer to know fate on January 15CANE harvester Kumar Ranji Singh, 48, on Tuesday confessed to unlawfully killing his wife Yasmattie Samaroo at John’s Village, Port Mourant on July 23, 2010.
He appeared before Justice Diane Inshanally at the Berbice Assizes where he pleaded not guilty to murder, for which he was indicted, but confessed to the lesser count of manslaughter which was accepted by the State.
State Prosecutrix, Ms Renita Singh did not relay the facts to the court but sought to have it done on January 15 when a probation report is expected to be presented.
Defence Counsel, Ms. Kim Kyte John had requested the document on her client’s background, prior to the judge imposing a sentence.
