In as much as Iana Seales in her “For De Record’ feature in the Stabroek News (Saturday December 28, 2013) is somewhat biased against the PPP. I am inclined to hear from her much more details on the proposal to adopt d’hondt executive international innovation in resolving conflict.I also agree that the Northern Ireland confrontation may be a useful study in broadening the views among Guyanese, regarding our own ongoing political problems.
However, I have some pertinent advice for Iana insofar as she undoubtedly needs to bring herself up to date on the history of power sharing in Guyana and in particular Cheddi Jagan’s own quest in sharing power with the then only significant opposition Burnham’s People’s National Congress (PNC) she will also find exchange of letters on the question of forming a coalition government, the book she should consult is that edited by Professor David Dabydeen entitled “Cheddi Jagan” selected correspondence 1953-1965.
