WITH preparations for Mashramani 2014 all up and running, the Mash Secretariat, in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport, is now staging auditions for the Adult Calypso Competition on November 29 and December 01, 2013.

After auditions have been completed on those dates, those going forward to the first leg of the competition would be shortlisted for participation in the quarter, semi, and final segments of the competition.
Former calypso veteran ‘Sweet Kendingo’ has retired from the sport earlier this year, but this publication has received word that this year’s competition will see an influx of new faces and heightened performances from the more seasoned and regular contenders.
At last year’s competitions, the audience saw spectacular performances from entrants like Karen ‘Queen Maceeba’ Benett; Edward ‘Young Fyah’ Perez; Manuel Pereira, a/ka ‘King Perai’; Dawn Edwards; and Malcolm Corrica, a/ka ‘Lord Canary’.
Other stirring renditions came from Martin Bryne, a/ka ‘The Mighty Voter’; Daria Barrow, a/ka ‘Queen Dairy’; Calypso Stella; Bright Colours; Ras Marcus, and a few others.
Information on the staging of the Chutney competitions will be announced in future news articles.
