A FORTY-SIX-YEAR-OLD man was fined yesterday,$30,000, by Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry, for stealing two pieces of wood.Terry Thompson (no address given) pleaded guilty to the offence, admitting that, on Tuesday, November 19, at Ruimveldt Police Station Compound, Georgetown he stole two pieces of lumber valued $2,300, property of Lloyd Tyrell.
The defendant begged the Court for leniency, stating that he took the materials to use for cooking as he has no stove.
Thompson was given a choice of one month imprisonment.
