Hakh says thanks
ORGANIZER of the recently concluded F&H Printing Establishment $1M country wide dominoes tournament, Hazim Hakh, yesterday took the time out to say thanks to the various teams from communities across Guyana, for their participation in making the tournament a success.
All Season Racing Service, like good thoroughbreds, used the opportunity and, running at a steady pace, cantered into the top spot which they never let go of, to emerge the winners, taking home the top prize of $500,000, trophy and nine gold medallions from Assassin and dethroned champions TNT.
To add a broader smile to their faces, All Season’s skipper, Frankie Seaforth, was named the Most Valuable Player of the tournament, whose playoffs culminated at the National Gymnasium last Sunday, wherein he won for himself a trophy and $10,000, while his team also won the Best Corporation prize of $15,000.
Assassin and TNT took home $250,000 and $100,000 respectively, with the fourth, fifth and sixth placed teams in Specialists, Frankies and Vidya’s Enterprise, taking home $60,000, $35,000 and $25,000 respectively.
The Best Female player was Dionne Telford of Providence who earned $5,000. TNT’s Jerry Chow received $3,000 for scoring the first love in the final, even as Adventure received $25,000 after being named the Best Performing Team from Far Reaching Areas.
The feat of getting to the finals in such a competition is no ordinary achievement, and the efforts of doing it twice consecutively was a monumental achievement by TNT, but it took its toll on them, as they succumbed to All Season and Assassin respectively.
However, Hakh took the opportunity to thank all the teams for participating, particularly those that did not make it to the playoffs; Minister of Sport, Dr. Frank Anthony; Director of Sport, Neil Kumar; Courts (Guyana) Ltd, All Season Racing Service, and Dave Persaud of Trinidad and Tobago.
They all partnered with F& H Printing Establishment to ensure the successful hosting of this event, which F&H as part of its corporate responsibility has committed itself to hosting annually, and for which Hakh says heartfelt thanks.
According to Hakh, F&H is committed to work with the far reaching areas, corporations and teams in the Georgetown environs to boost a wider spread of teams for next year’s edition, which he plans to culminate in October, instead of November, even as he seeks to partner with other corporate entities to make the tournament bigger and better.
