Another expatriate company ventures into Guyana gold mining

ANOTHER expatriate gold mining company has acquired long lead time equipment for the development of a project in Guyana. The Australian firm Troy Resources Limited (TRL) announced Wednesday that it had entered into an agreement to acquire a 3.2 megawatts grinding mill, electrics and ancillary requirements to develop the West Omai mine in Region 7 (Cuyuni/Mazaruni).
Making the announcement, TRL Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Paul Benson said: “We are extremely pleased to have been able to acquire this long lead time item for the West Omai Project.
“The mill acquisition enables us to finalise the detailed engineering of the remainder of the processing facility.”
The milling package includes all electrics, ancillary equipment and peripheral parts to operate, as well as structural steel platforms and substantial spares.
Benson said the design concept is based on a staged development to minimise risk and capital requirements, whilst retaining flexibility to increase processing rates over time.

Anticipated delivery
The ball mill is to support an expected initial plant throughput rate of greater than 600,000 tonnes per annum (TPA) and its anticipated delivery into Guyana is in the second quarter of 2014.
Benson disclosed, too, that what is needed for crushing has also been identified and will be secured over the next six months.
Last month, the Canadian company, Guyana Goldfields Inc. revealed that it had entered into an agreement to purchase a 5.5 megawatts semi-autogenous (SAG) mill as its primary grinding solution for the initial milling facility for its Aurora Gold Project, also in (Cuyuni/Mazaruni).
Its President and CEO, Scott A. Caldwell said the acquisition underscored the company’s commitment to the development of its Aurora Gold Project.
TRL, dual-listed on the Australian and Toronto Stock Exchanges (code:TRY), is a junior gold producer with operations at Andorinhas in Para State, Brazil, Casposo in San Juan Province, Argentina, as well as in Guyana.
