Witness in ‘Picture Boy’ murder trial says he is positive accused was the shooter

Written By George Barclay
KWESI Stewart, called ‘Silva’, told Justice Navindra Singh and a mixed jury that he saw Cyon Collier, called “Picture Boy” shoot Ray Walcot called “Sugar” and chased Walcott’s brother, Carl Andrews called ‘Alo’ while shooting.

Stewart was called by Prosecutrix Judith Gildharie-Mursalin when the double murder trial resumed Friday.
Stewart said about 2:00 to 2:30 am on September 23rd , 2006, he was playing dominoes with some fiends, namely Sherwyn, Richie, Pigeon and Brother ‘B when Cyon came up on a motorcycle with a gun on his back. The gun had a string tied to something in front. It was a long gun.
The area was brightly lit since they were playing dominoes by a shop which had a fluorescent light and also there was a street light nearby.
Stewart said the accused parked his motorcycle on the street in front of where they were and then went over with the gun still on his back to his grandmother’s yard, which is opposite to where they were.
After about five minutes, the accused returned to where they were, standing next to him, talking and gaffing with them. ‘Alo’ and ‘Sugar’ were sitting nearby watching the game.
The accused sent ‘Sugar’ to buy a cigarette which the accused and ‘Sugar’ each smoked, then the accused took the gun and began shooting ‘Sugar’.
All the rest of them began running. The witness and ‘Alo’ ran towards the seawall. The accused was running behind them shooting. The accused was the only person there with a gun and was the only person who was shooting. However, at no time did he shoot in the witness’s direction.
The witness said he ran behind a lantern post while ‘Alo’ jumped over the fence into Nicola Goodchild’s yard.
Stewart said he was positive the shooter was Cyon because he has known him all his life.
Mr. Lyndon Amsterdam is the defence attorney while State Counsel Mrs. Judith Gildharie-Mursalin is prosecuting.
The trial is continuing.
