A MAN accused of assaulting his uncle was granted $10,000 bail on Wednesday and both of them were bonded to keep the peace, pending the outcome of the case.
It happened when Harold Fredericks appeared before Magistrate Fabayo Azore.
The 32-year-old single parent father of one, who lives at Lot 2453 North Ruimveldt was charged with unlawfully and maliciously wounding Terrence West on October 21 on North Ruimveldt Public Road.
According to Sergeant Ramsahoye Rambajue, prosecuting, Fredericks is the nephew of the virtual complainant and they live in the same house.
But, that day, about 18:45 hrs, West visited a friend obliquely opposite their home to invite the latter to a party he is hosting in Sophia. When he returned to the yard, the defendant’s reputed wife started to verbally abuse him.
The prosecutor said, among other things, she accused him of ‘talking name’ and said he would drop dead.
Then an argument developed between uncle and nephew after the latter informed him of his wife’s behaviour towards him and the Prosecutor said Fredericks armed himself with a piece of wood and dealt his uncle several lashes to his left arm.
However, Fredericks pleaded not guilty to the assault and the magistrate, at the suggestion of the Prosecutor, put Fredericks and West on a bond to keep the peace until the termination of the trial. (J. Rockcliffe)
