Army recovers assault rifle ammo : – but no proof of them being part of missing ten, according to Brigadier Phillips

HEAD of the Guyana Defence Force Brigadier Mark Phillips, last evening indicated that ten rounds of assault rifle ammunition have been found at the GDF base but the army is yet to confirm whether they were those that went missing.

The Army Chief of Staff said the rounds would have to be compared with existing batches to confirm whether they were the 7.62 x 39mm rounds that went missing from the Guard Room of the Colonel John Clarke Military School at Tacama, Upper Berbice River.
Phillips said investigations into the missing ammo will continue as long as possible until they are able to determine what went wrong resulting in the disappearance of the ten rounds.
While no one has been arrested, Phillips said no one was being allowed to leave Tacama because the probe was continuing.
