Pensioner found hanging at Liliendaal

A PENSIONER was yesterday afternoon found hanging from a rope aback an abandoned shop at Area ‘D’ Liliendaal ,  just a few steps from where his relatives live.

The body of sixty-two-year-old Joseph Madramootoo, also known as Palo and Brother, of Area ‘D’ Liliendaal, Greater Georgetown, was discovered by persons in the area around noon yesterday and the police were called in.
The man is said to have had no fixed place of abode but persons said that from time to time they would see the man in the area and he always appeared to be quiet and stuck to himself.
In speaking with one of his nephew’s yesterday afternoon, the man said that he last saw his uncle at approximately 10:00am yesterday when he came to his relatives’ home as always.
The man said that he had no idea that it would be the last he was going to see his uncle. According to him, his uncle is not known to be an alcoholic or a smoker. And yesterday he did not appear to have anything bothering him. The nephew said also that there was no argument between the man and his family and he was not suffering from any ailment as far as they knew.
This newspaper was told that the man has three children who reside in Guyana but his relatives yesterday said they were uncertain where those children can be located.
