SIX men and a woman were arrested in Linden pending police investigations into robbery under arms and possession of narcotics, while nine cannabis sativa (marijuana) fields were destroyed on Saturday.
On Saturday the police conducted searches in Victory Valley, Green Valley and the Mackenzie Market areas in Linden.
Meanwhile, last Wednesday police conducted a drug eradication exercise at Yarrowkabra, Soesdyke/Linden Highway, where nine fields of marijuana were destroyed.
During the operation the nine fields of marijuana plants, comprising approximately 85,000 plants ranging in height between three feet and 10 feet, were found and destroyed along with seven nurseries with seedlings and three camps.
No arrest was made.
However, on September 16, police conducted another narcotics eradication operation at Yarrowkabra, Soesdyke/Linden Highway. Two fields of marijuana plants, about 10 acres in size, were found with approximately 100,000 plants ranging in height between three feet and 10 feet.
The plants were destroyed along with nurseries and a large quantity of seedlings, and three camps.
Two men were arrested and are in police custody. Charges will be laid shortly.
In a separate incident, around 15:00 hrs on September 16, police conducted a search on a house at Nabaclis, East Coast Demerara, when 11 grammes of cocaine was found.
A man and a woman have been arrested and are in police custody assisting with the investigations.
Meanwhile, about 14:45 hours September 13, the police conducted a search on a house at Danielstown, Essequibo Coast, during which 21 grams of cocaine was found.
A woman and her son have been arrested and are in police custody assisting with the investigations.
