THE University of Guyana has stood in my way (and many others, I am sure) of furthering my studies.

Having applied since June for the Masters in Education Programme at Turkeyen and a transcript from the Berbice Campus (with all my grades), the document was prepared and sent across to Exams Divisions thence to Admissions only the other day.

Of course, the Masters programme would not have waited on me or my slowly processed transcript, as I was sadly informed that interviews were conducted last month and classes have begun a long time ago.

Additionally, I was informed that there are only limited places for that programme and that applicants accepted this year had applied since last year. What nonsense!
Perhaps, though, it is a blessing in disguise so that I can relax a bit. However, ‘academic breaks’ are not my forte. To think of all the work I put in applying; travelling to Turkeyen to take my documents for verification; paying this fee and that fee for processing, etc; checking the online application painstakingly on a daily basis for any update—and just to hear that the late transcript—and my late results– along with a jam-packed Masters programme class were the reasons for me (and others) not being able to commence studies.
