GFW to stage ‘Fashion Flowing Like Water’ sale

AS a climax of Water Week 2013, Guyana Fashion Week (GFW) has kicked off a grand showroom sale at its headquarters at 176 Barr Street, Kitty, Georgetown from September 7 to 21, 2013.

“Fashion Flowing Like Water” is a sale of apparel by GFW designers. Over twenty local designers will carry their lines at reduced prices on the heels of the Water Week collaboration with the Ministry of Natural Resources and the Environment.

The GFW has shown that it ‘means business’ by setting up a forum for trade of its fashion wares. Designers would be able to merchandise and vend for a period leading up to the next major event at the Courts/GFW Showcase.

“Fashion Flowing Like Water” is one of the GFW activities to foster commerce among the local designer fraternity. It’s not only about art, it’s about business. GFW is proud of its inaugural Fashion Week, and is engaging the entire creative arts sector to brand Guyanese style.

The GFW 6 designers will be available to interact with the public and have discussions on options and ideas. Their pieces will also be sold at a special cost price, as an exclusive offer to the patrons attending the event. Veteran model and young designer Meleesa Payne mentioned that this is an amazing opportunity for those fashionistas who are interested in young talent.
