‘Desi Girl’: The new voice on 89.1 FM

SINCE the launch of National Television Network’s (NTN’s) 89.1 FM, ‘The Pulse of Guyana,’ there has been no letting up; and its personnel are quite boastful about it! Traverse in taxis, on bicycles, on horse carts, or on anything and you can hear the sounds of NTN Radio.

To take things a step higher, NTN recently announced its pleasure at the arrival of the international voice of ‘Desi Girl’ Wendy Khan on the 89.1FM radio.
Khan will be on air every Sunday at 7pm with the recently launched Bollywood Café Radio Show, intended to be the place where everyone can connect through music. The show has several features highlighting Bollywood songs and local Caribbean musical artistes, which promises to bring the East and West together.

Celebrity highlights is a segment that features Bollywood news along with celebrity interviews. “Living Smart” is an additional segment providing tips and information on health and wellness, beauty tips and healthy lifestyles.

The Wendy Khan Fan Page on Facebook could be found at www.facebook.com/wendykhan.fangroup, and her website can be accessed at wendykhan.com to keep abreast of all current and upcoming programming. All sponsorship has been directed to the marketing department at bollywoodcafe1@gmail.com

A press release from NTN disclosed Khan is an acclaimed television and radio personality who has won numerous awards and recognition for Best TV Personality. She was recently awarded the US Congressional Award for Media and NYS Woman of Distinction Award for outstanding community services by the New York State.

The release said Khan has an impressive body of work that encompasses TV and radio. She quickly emerged as one of the Indo-Caribbean’s most versatile TV/Radio personalities after making her professional debut in the late 90s in New York.

As a media personality, NTN said, Khan has made numerous stage appearances, hosting concerts and events from Bollywood to New York, to South America and the Caribbean Islands. In 2009 and 2010, she acted in a musical/drama, “Off Broadway,” at the New Age Theatre in NYC, joining a huge cast of talented artistes in making history for the West Indian communities throughout the tri-state area as the first West Indian drama to hit NYC.

In 2011, “Desi Girl” made her debut on the television screen in Guyana with great success, and later went on to co-host the Kumar Sanu Concert in Guyana and Trinidad, with a special appearance as a co-host for the 2013 Chutney Soca Monarch held in Trinidad in January 2013.
